Nepal is a kingdom in the Himalayan mountains.
Their main exports include carpets, leather goods and jute.

Original Email sent to various Hotels and Government Agencies in Nepal:
Dear Sir/Madam,

I have a question.
I think it's somewhat peculiar that your flag is not the shape of a standard rectangle. The richest countries in the world like the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Sweden all have one thing in common. You guessed it. They have a rectangular flag! I firmly believe the fact Nepal has a non-standard shaped flag is a hindrance to you being taken seriously as part of the World Economy.
Here's an impression of the Economic Minister of Sweden:
"Why should we bother trade talks with Nepal, they don't even have a normal looking flag, for God's sake! Instead let's import all our leather goods and jute from Sri Lanka. They have a cool-looking lion holding a sword on their flag, dude!"
Because of this, I have taken the liberty of designing a new flag for Nepal (see Attachment).
A few points:
I've kept the same color scheme of the old Flag of Nepal since crimson is your national color and I don't want to do anything disrespectful. For that same reason I have also included the two pennants that represent the rival branches of the Rana dynasty upon which your original flag is based.
The slogan on the flag is "Nepal Rocks."
"Nepal Rocks" alludes to the fact that Nepal is a really hip country and also to your famous Himalayan Mountains.
The animal pictured is my gerbil, named Richard Gere. The actor, Richard Gere is a devout Buddhist and I understand there are many Buddhists in Nepal.
Thank you for viewing my new Nepalese flag. I would love to see it proudly waving over the Kingdom of Nepal!
I can just hear the Economic Minister of Sweden now, "Dude, I was wrong about Nepal, let's order more jute from them!"
Please let write back and let me know what you think of my Flag Design.
Hoping to hear from you soon!

Yours truly,
William "Buzz" Shaw

PS. What exactly is "jute"?

Response from The Royal Nepalese Embassy:
Dear William,
First of all I would like to thank you for your mail and interest. And I would like to share my personal view in this matter.
So far I know Sweden is developed and cultured country. I hope Swedish people are more cultured and civilised. And I can not even think any honourable minister from that great country comments in that way about any other country's flag.
Regarding your suggestion and analysis, do you think that size of flag is the cause of poverty. Than tell me about the flag of Somalia, Ethopia. and more about liberia which is more like US. What do you think , why are they suffering for.
If flage is the solution than lets think to make their flag like Sweden make them like Sweden.
Regarding our flag , this is the flag which never let it be ruled by any Empire through out its history, this is the flag from the land of Buddha. its blue colour symbolise the peace and its tringal shape represent the Himalayas.and moon and sun symbolise the oldest great Aryan civilization.
Lets talk about standerd, what is standard ?. Is it standard to be like any other western countries. why don't you thing that there are many rich countries but they are not cultured and civilised. Is it enough to develop materially. Can we get eternal peace and satisfaction with that only?
Yes we need suggestion and support from our friendly countries , we have to do alot to develop our country but it does not mean that we have nothing to teach the world.
I hope you will think siriously about your proposal and reply me because you are from that great developed country which knows the meaning of culture, history an civilization.

with best wishes,
Oli.

(I never said the Economic Minister of Swedish really said that. What I was doing was merely an IMPRESSION of him.
Also, I never said I know the meaning of culture, history and civilization. I don't even know the meaning of "jute.")
